Dear Consular officer: My name is (____). I am residing in Franklin Park, Illinois. I filed a petition for my husband named (____), residing in Danang, Vietnam. We were requested to provide more evidence and information regarding our relationship. I would like to state our relationship as follow: When I was in Vietnam, my husband and I studied in the same high school named Phan Chau Trinh in Danang city. My husband studied one year ahead me, but we just knew each other. I begun my study in this school during the period time from 2000 to 2003, my husband begun his study from 1999 to 2002. And we started hanging out as friendship about early of April/2002 when he almost finished his school and prepared for his graduation. By that time, my husband was an 18 years old boy, and I was a 17 years old girl. Early of June/2002, my husband already graduated from high school, and I started going to summer class to prepare for my new school year as a senior student in twelfth graded. In Vietnam, all students often take classes beside of class in school to improve the studies. My husband rode me to school every day even though my class begun at 7 a.m., he could get up at 6 a.m. and waited for me. I know it was inconvenient to ride under a heavy rain or under a hot and muggy weather of summer. But my husband could stand for it to ride me to school everyday. I really appreciated his care, and I was in love with him although during this time, neither of us saying love first. A night, in July/25/2002, was still in summer time. After finishing my class, he asked me to give him some time, and he had something to talk to me. He said “I know Love is too early for us now, because I know you will be struggling with your new school year. I do not want the affair will affect and distract your study. But I do not want to wait until you finish your school; I want you to be my girl friend. Do you agree?”I agreed without any hesitates because I believed he would be a good man that I could put my trust on, and I really felt protection when he was beside me. Although, we were just both teenage girl and boy; but up to date I still never regretted about my decision with him for the rest of my life. And that day, July/25, is still the day that we use as the anniversary of our first date. Every year on this day, even when I am not in Vietnam anymore, we still spend time to talk to each other on the phone to remind about our best memories. About at the beginning of 2004, my family received a letter from the Department of State U.S.A. National Visa Center that the petition my uncle filed for my family were accepted. In front of this news, my husband and I were really upset. I did not want to leave him and he also did not want to let me go. We really had hard time to have a final decision. Finally, he encouraged me to go for a better life with a promise that he will wait until I go back to Vietnam after 5 years. At that time, we all thought about going back to Vietnam is a hard thing that not everyone can do. He proved his promise to me by having a tattoo on his left chest with my name; it’s Q.Anh (abbreviation of my old name Quynh Anh) in red ink. In Novemver /06/2004 I departed from Ho Chi Minh airport to immigrate to the United States. During that time, my husband and I communicated with each other by email, and writing letters. He usually called to me by using phone card on the internet, because that time, I did not know how to use phone card to call back to Vietnam. Although we were not together, my husband is always the one who helped me with the advises to overcome the difficult times when I just came to the United States, and encouraged me to keep going to school for a better future. Two years later, in 2006 after having a little saving from my job, I decided to go back Vietnam and engaged with my husband. I departed from International O’Hare airport at noon in October/12/2006 and arrived at Ho Chi Minh Airport at night in October/13/2006. My husband picked me up at the airport and we together flied to our hometown, Danang, a day after that. In my engagement ceremony, my parents could not go with me to Vietnam. My parents had my uncle, my father’s older brother, named Phi Hung Truc Ly, represented for my family to be the master of our engage ceremony. In our engagement, there were also all my relatives including my mother’s side and my father’s side who very cared about us and helped us in preparing the ceremony. Our engagement ceremony took place in my grandma's house, my father's mother, at K9/2 Phan Thanh St, Danang- Vietnam in October/19/2006. After the engagement, we spent a week to travel to Da Lat City and took many pictures together. At the midnight of November/10/2006, I went back to the United States; my husband was with me at the airport until I left. I arrived at O’Hare Chicago airport at noon of November/11/2006. My husband and I decided to get marry on my second trip back to Vietnam in Ma... Read More »
